I finally bought tickets for Micmacs which is screening in the French Film Festival. I'm usually silly and always forget to buy tickets for many of the film festivals that Sydney puts on, and end up regretting my actions when the films don't get another release.
In other news, I leave for Germany in a month and still haven't got accommodation, have rusty German, and have no idea how to pack. But it's okay because I can cover up by stress by watching the neo-realist film box set that I got in the mail the other day.

valentine

I've been looking forward to Valentines Day, though in previous years disregarded it completely. Tim and I avoided buying lame schmoopy things and got each other DVDs we've been wanting for awhile (Days of Being Wild, 8 1/2 and the Ingmar Bergman Faith Trilogy). But I couldnt help buying these rock candies that say "I Love You" or making these cupcakes which are amazing (but mine didnt turn red enough).

Pants love

Yesterday I went to the American Apparel store and fell in love with these unisex poly-viscose school boy pants. This photo doesnt really do them justice (have all the AA online store photos gotten very tacky looking?) but they're so lovely and classic.
I havnt really worn pants before (except for work), so I'm sort of drooling over photos I come across.

DIY cook book

My latest project is photocopying recipes to take with me to Berlin. I've come across so many amazing soup recipes I want to try them all! Once I've found enough recipes I'll make a hard cover and bind it with a Japanese binding stitch. So simple.

2010 Plans

I havnt really made many posts on the internet for about 2 weeks. In that time I went down to Melbourne with Tim to hang out and visit the darling Thao. Since then i've been working nearly every day at my "casual" job at a restaurant, which is okay for the money. Big news came 2 days ago when I got a call from the exchange officer from my uni, after waiting about 2 months, I finally found out that I get to go study for a semester at Universitet der Kunste in Berlin - which also means I get to be with 2 friends from my classes, and (potentially) live with one of my best friends who moved to Europe last year. So now I have 2 months to plan everything, buy my flight, insurance, organise residency things and do all that paperwork, oh and I need to brush up on my German....
So - future posts will include photos from Melbourne (once i finish the roll of film and get them developed) and updates and itinerary for Germany.
